Jamestown CA....A Vegetation fire is being reported on Highway 108, East of Tulloch Road. Units are responding now. No further information at this time. UPDATE #1 (5:54pm) Battalion Chief 4410 stated that a large column of smoke can been seen from the Sonora area. The fire size is unknown at this time. UPDATE #2 (5:55pm) Tankers from above stated that fire is 10-15 acres in size with a moderate rate of spread. The fire is burning brush and oak, no structures are threatened at this time. UPDATE #3 (6:25pm)The air tankers have arrived on scene and have dropped several loads of gel. This has stopped the forward spread of the fire and engines are attempting to gain access to the south side of the fire. Updates to come.....

Tuolumne County, CA....A vegetation fire is being reported at Manor Drive Across from Steiner Drive in Tuolumne County. Units are now diverting from the Tulloch Fire in route to this fire. No additional information at this time. UPDATE #1 (6:21pm) The fire is a small spot fire that has been controlled by locals. All additional units have been cancelled. Updates to come.....

Sonora, CA....A fire broke out at 300 Barretta Street in Sonora at approximately 2:05pm. There were 2 Batallion Chiefs and 3 Engines on scene. No water tenders. We just spoke with Lisa again at 2:20pm and they have reduced crews down to 1 engine and 1 Batallion Chief. Sounds like they have the upper hand on it. Barretta Street is located in downtown Sonora, so please use caution in the area.

CHP is reporting a collision with ambulance responding at Hey 49 and Mokelumne River. A vehicle is apparently 30 feet off of the roadway and down a hill. We will keep you posted as needed. Please use caution in the area.

Columbia College, CA....It can't get any better than a FREE FILM FESTIVAL!!! Patagonia presents the annual Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival, on tour at Columbia College on September 19th. The films will be shown in the Dogwood Forum on Campus. The film festival is hosted by the TCCFRG, Tuolumne County Citizens for Responsible Growth and the CCEP, Columbia College Civic Engagement Program. San Andreas, CA...We received a call from a viewer in Mountain Ranch of a potential SCAM going around. The person calling will pretend to be an old friend who needs money. In this instance her "friend" had lost his bag with all of his money in it in Chicago. He wanted her to send him money. She thought it was a scam but she played along and when she said she didn't have the cash to send he asked if she had a credit card. The caller pretended to be her old friend "Gary". So be suspicious of callers asking for money. Even when they are "Old Friends." She let us know just in case the callers are working a block of local numbers. Our Sheriff's Log Archive...

Angels Camp, CA...(Friday AM Update. A short press release was issued by the Angels Camp Police Department that restated what was known from being at the scene last night. A man was discovered deceased in the parking lot of Frog Jump Plaza due to a single gunshot wound in an apparent suicide. Notification of relatives is still ongoing) A body has been found in a white pickup in the Frog Jump Plaza in Angels Camp. Initial indications are that the deceased died of an apparent suicide. This may change as law enforcement officials can comment....

Calaveras County, CA....Tuesday, September 2, 2008, proved to be a busy day for Sheriffs' deputies as they seized a total of 1801 marijuana plants and arrested three suspects from two different and unrelated marijuana grow sites. Mountain Ranch, CA...CAL-FIRE and local agencies are still on scene of an approximately 1 acre grass fire that was caused by an Oak Tree falling into a power line. According to Mary Joe from CAL-FIRE they have a good handle on the fire and all aircraft have been released.

The site was constructed at a TUD facility located just off Mono Way near the Indian Rock Center. Murphys, CA...The great ride that has made Murphys Home for the last two years will be moving back to Amador County for 2009. This is very sad for the County. The public reason is that the course was too challenging and that tended to suppress the numbers. That may be part of it but speaking as a media outlet the differences in Sacramento Wheelman's promotion efforts between 2007 & 2008 were stark. Before the first event here we had almost weekly promotional messages sent us. Representatives attended Board of Supervisors meetings. Held press conferences and generally did everything they could to ensure a full field of riders. In 2008...

Sonora, CA....Fire Investigators concluded that this fire was accidental in nature. It appeared there were no signs of foul play. The victim in this case has not positively been identified. Additional follow up is being conducted by the Corner’s Division to confirm the victim’s identity.....
