Don't Miss Big Bad Voodoo Daddy on July 31st, At Bear Valley Music Festival

Bear Valley, CA...Big Bad Voodoo Daddy will perform on Saturday, July 31 at 8 p.m. The band was originally formed in Ventura, California in 1989 by leader Scotty Morris. The band was named Big Bad Voodoo Daddy after Morris met blues guitar legend Albert Collins at one of the latter's concerts...

"He signed my copy of the event poster 'To Scotty, the big bad voodoo daddy'", Morris explains. "I thought it was the coolest name I ever heard on one of the coolest musical nights I ever had. So when it came time to name this band, I didn't really have a choice. I felt like it was handed down to me."

He and Kurt Sodergren are the two "original" members, with the rest of the band joining later on. The band concentrated on the swing of the 1940s and '50s, playing clubs and lounges in its early years.

Over the last few years, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy has played on the Pops programs of American symphony orchestras, including the San Francisco Symphony in July 2008. They created a new song for the movie “The Wild.” The band released “How Big Can You Get,” a collection of their renditions of Cab Calloway songs in April of 2009.

Tickets for all the festival performances, in a wide range of prices go on sale the beginning of May and may be ordered by visiting the festival website at bearvalleymusic.org or by calling toll free (800) 458-1618.

The Bear Valley Music Festival is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization governed by a board of eighteen people from throughout California who volunteer their time to make sure this time honored musical celebration continues to provide a unique and satisfying experience for all attendees. Donations to the festival are tax deductible.
